About me

I’m Noura. I Spent Nine Years Being Told It Was Normal.

I’m 35, a mother of two, and I’ve lived with PCOS, cystic acne and hormonal chaos since my early twenties. Noura Theory is the resource I badly needed and couldn’t find anywhere: plain English, properly sourced, and honest about the parts nobody has figured out yet.

The nine-year version

My periods stopped being predictable at 22. By 24 I had cystic acne along my jaw that no cleanser could reach, thinning at my temples, and a 3pm exhaustion so reliable I’d decided it was simply my personality.

I saw four doctors. I was told to lose weight. I was told it was stress. I was told it was normal. And, memorably, I was told to come back when I wanted a baby. Nobody ordered a fasting insulin. Nobody connected the acne to the cycles to the fatigue, largely because nobody asked me about all three in the same appointment.

I wasn’t given a plan. I was given a diagnosis and a shrug.

I was finally diagnosed at 26 by a locum GP who spent eleven extra minutes with me. Eleven minutes. Then came problem number two: the internet. Contradictory advice, expensive hormone-balancing bundles, and an ocean of content built to sell rather than explain.

So I did what I do, which is read the actual papers. Then I started taking notes. Then friends started asking for the notes. Then friends of friends. Noura Theory is what those notes turned into.

What actually changed things

Not a miracle product. A sequence: blood sugar first, sleep second, strength training third, and only then a short and frankly boring supplement list at doses that matched the research. My cycles regulated at 29. My skin took about fourteen months, and required accepting that no amount of serum was going to fix a hormonal problem from the outside.

What I am, and what I’m very much not

I’m not a doctor, a dietitian or an endocrinologist. I’m a patient who reads primary research carefully and writes it up in a way that assumes you’re clever. Everything here is designed to make you a better-informed participant in your own care — not to replace the people qualified to give it.

Three Non-Negotiables

Evidence over anecdote

My story got me here, but it isn’t proof of anything — I’m a sample size of one. Every claim on this site traces back to human research, and when the evidence is thin, I say so plainly.

Transparent money

Affiliate commissions pay for this site. Rankings are set before any links go in, brands can’t buy placement, and every commercial link is labelled as one.

No shame, ever

No before-and-afters, no weight-loss framing, no suggestion that you brought this on yourself. PCOS is a metabolic and endocrine condition, not a character flaw or a willpower deficit.

What’s next

Everything Here Is Free, and Always Will Be

This site is funded by affiliate commissions on products I’d recommend anyway — never by brands paying for placement. If that arrangement works for you, start with the four-step path.
